  • Unsheathing, or, 'letting the lipstick hang out'

I read in another post that after a male is neutered he doesn't unsheath. Is this true?

Sarge is 14 months(my rescue baby) and is going in for a neuter this Friday. He seems to like to let the ole' lipstick hang out, and I was wondering if he will still do this after the neuter. Anyone?

He will more than likely still do that after he is neutered.

Nope, they still show it off! LOL Bacchus was neutered at approx. 12 months, is now 3 years, and it still pops out now and then. I just tell him "Put that thing away, you can't use it anymore!" LOL :P

My two younger kids 8/girl & 11/boy are not bothered at all by this but my 18 yr old girl is absolutely grossed out. Every time she goes to pet him she makes sure it is put away and if it starts to peak out she is so gone. Cracks me up every time.

That's what I thought I'd hear. Oh, well, maybe I could train him with a voice command...how bout 'Sarge, retreat!' :P

Trust me, neutering will not stop this; and as they age, they seem to be even more "relaxed." You know, it might be alarming to some, but after a while you don't even notice or care anymore (they're just your babies.)

Vader is going on 5 months, going to be neutered soon but he doesn't ever have "it" out! Is he normal, lol?????? :-)

                  Maybe just fortunate, I guess!

Just the other day, he started unsheathing as I was putting his collar on (he was in the sit position). OMG! He was definitely a 'happy camper'!!!

Man, this is one reason why we got a female }>

Anne, I hear you!! If I'd had my preference, I would probably have gone with a female, but I adopted Sarge, not purchased him. But I still love my sweetie pie...even with the occasional 'distraction'!!

A while back I was at a show, and me and a friend were watching the Danes, who were about to enter the ring. My friend, when looking at the female Danes and noting their 'noonies' (not exactly technical!), said she'd prefer a male, because they look much cleaner. I then told her, 'but you don't have to look at 'bits and pieces' on a female!

Well my male, has nipples too, if that is what your friend was reffering to.

Yup that's it! Perhaps the Danes she noted had kind of large nipples.

Wesker is neutered and his still peeks out. Especially after the "go for a ride" talk. To make matters worse, Chasey is fascinated with the darn thing. She pokes her head under there and looks and sniffs. I think she wants one for herself. :P

LOL Great Danes are nothing. I have a gelding horse that let's that python hang out. Trust me a lipstick is better AND the fact that you don't have to physically clean it, like you do a horse makes me love my Dane even more! Ahhhh the joys of pet ownership!
